Sustainable Fisheries Development Fund
Objective

To help the local fishing community move towards sustainable or high value-added operations so that the trade can enhance its overall competitiveness and cope with new challenges.

Details

Funding Scope

  • Exploring new opportunities in the South China Sea;
  • Developing sustainable practices for fishing operations in Hong Kong Waters;
  • Aquaculture development;
  • Accreditation and marketing of local fisheries products; and
  • Resources monitoring and enhancement.

These areas are for indicative purpose only. Applications for projects which fall beyond these areas may also be considered. Nevertheless, whether an application will be approved will still depend on whether the application meets the criteria of the Fund.

Eligibility and Requirement
  • Legal entities incorporated in Hong Kong under the Companies Ordinance with substantial connection to Hong Kong or body corporates incorporated in Hong Kong under other Ordinances of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and having demonstrated a close connection with the fisheries industry in Hong Kong. These include local registered fisheries co-operatives, non-profit-making fisheries organisations, non-governmental organisations or social enterprises; 
  • Academic and research institutions in Hong Kong.

Joint applications with overseas organisations and institutions are permissible, provided that the projects are led by a local group satisfying the criteria above.
