Objective

To provide financial support to projects conducive to the development of creative industries in Hong Kong.

Details

The CreateSmart Initiative funds projects with objectives that are in line with Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency's strategic foci to drive the development of the cultural and creative industries, namely-

  • Nurturing talents and facilitating start-ups;
  • Exploring markets;
  • Promoting cross-sectoral and cross-genre collaborations; and
  • Promoting Hong Kong as Asia’s creative capital and fostering a creative atmosphere in the community. 

Funding support is given by way of a grant. It will cover only the net approved project cost after deducting the expected income during the project period, the amount of sponsorship and/or funding from other sources for the project (if any).

Eligibility and Requirement

An applicant should normally be a locally registered institution/ organisation, which include the following: local academic institutes, industry support organisations, trade and industry associations, professional bodies, research
institutes and companies*.

*The applicant should be a body or company established or incorporated under the Hong Kong laws including the Companies Ordinance (Cap 622). Applicant may be required to produce valid evidence showing that it is a going concern.

Application Procedure
  • CreateSmart Initiative is open for application all year round, unless otherwise announced. Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency may also from time to time issue theme-specific topics to solicit applications.
  • Applications are made through the computerised application system. Each application can only cover one project. Enquiries can be sent to createsmart@ccidahk.gov.hk.
